About Me

Hi there, and thank you for taking the time to visit my blog! I’m Alice, a twenty-something cardiovascular pharmacology PhD student and lover of all things veg.

Being in the world of scientific research, and cardiovascular research at that, I am fully aware of the consequences of poor diet. Due to this, I have developed a keen interest in keeping myself in tip-top health. This quest for prime health has led me to become vegetarian, and this blog features only vegetarian recipes. At home I tend to use organic ingredients, because I believe these are truly the healthiest we can get. In addition to this, I think that eating organic, healthy food leads to a happy body, and a happy body must mean a happier self. This all seems like a good deal to me.

Just like any other human being though, I also like to indulge. I think you need it from time to time. We can’t go through life depriving ourselves of what we want. If I feel like I want a piece of cake, or a chocolate croissant (yes please!)… I’ll nip and get a piece of cake or a chocolate croissant! I enjoy leading a healthy lifestyle, and it means I can indulge my little sweet tooth every so often, without any repercussions. As a younger self, I used to think baking was for grandmothers and grandchildren (ha), but thanks to a baking-crazy housemate I once had, I have discovered the world of flour, eggs and butter, and I have to say, I’m not turning back! I do really enjoy baking now, and hopefully I will feature some really scrummy recipes for you to bake. Treat yourself, you deserve it!

On another note, I don’t like to follow the diet trends, I don’t believe in all of the ‘superfood’ madness, and I don’t think juicing is the way forward. I believe in wholesome, healthy foods that provide us with a good balance of nutrients to help with different aspects of our life. I like to know what my food is providing me with, and I would like to share my findings with you. You’ll find pages with nutritional information and snippets of research with beneficial properties of certain foods. This is by no means advice from a nutritionist’s perspective, just an interested third party wanting to improve the health of those around her.

I genuinely hope you find something in my blog you would like to make or bake, and I really hope you enjoy it!

Stay happy!
